Qingdao Government | MAY 13,2025

The 2025 Women's ILCA 6 and Men's ILCA 7 World Championships officially set sail in Qingdao on May 12. As one of the premier events in international sailing, this year's championships have drawn over 300 athletes and coaches from more than 50 countries and regions, setting a new record for the number of nations represented at a single sailing event in Qingdao.

The ILCA class is the world's most widely participated-in and influential category in sailing today. This championship—an Olympic-class, World Sailing A-class event—not only serves as a key qualifier for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, but also marks the first time Qingdao and China are hosting an ILCA World Championship.
