Deputy Party Chief of the CPC Qingdao Municipal Committee and Mayor of Qingdao Ren Gang met with Vice-Chancellor of University Malaya Professor Dato Seri Ir. Dr. Noor Azuan Abu Osman and his delegation at the Qingdao International Conference Center on the morning of May 14.
Ren highlighted Qingdao's strategic position as a key coastal city in China with strong manufacturing capabilities, abundant marine research resources, and a growing emphasis on education in driving urban development. He noted that the city is actively implementing President Xi Jinping's directives for Shandong and Qingdao to accelerate its transformation into a modern international metropolis while also praising University Malaya for its rich history and comprehensive academic offerings, calling it a globally influential institution. Ren expressed hope for deeper cooperation in talent cultivation and scientific research, and for exploring new models of joint education to enhance economic and cultural exchanges.
Dr. Noor Azuan affirmed the University Malaya's confidence in Qingdao's educational strengths and development prospects. He expressed the university's interest in establishing a pragmatic partnership to pursue mutually beneficial growth.
